The Art of Slow

I’m not only referring to my lack of posting anything over the last few weeks (I blame the school holidays) but making a comment on what I have been doing. Here is an outline of “Bookbinding part 1” - Part 2 to follow.

While I’ve been juggling several little projects, which will hopefully come to fruition soon, I’ve also continued making notebooks

Bookbinding is a slow process, and involves a lot of waiting…. A brief overview here

COVERS:

I cut board to size for the covers, cut the fabric cover (usually printed with my own designs - it’s fascinating to see my own paintings on fabric for a change!) and then glue the two together. They then get pressed at least overnight, while I get on with something else!

My book covers are pressed either in my small flower press or in amongst these sheets of wood, and then under a very heavy box, for as long as it takes.

Not your classic bookbinding press, but very effective!
