Redesign

Some time ago I painted this.

It wasn’t really intended to be anything particular, and I just filed it under “Cloudy and Green” and left it unfinished and relatively uninteresting.

After a while I went back to it, and decided that it definitely needed to be different….

Before and after photos:

I added more interest to the top of the picture by making the clouds more dense and adding a tree.

The bottom of the picture got a frosty makeover, a bit of foliage at the front, and somehow someone built a city in the middle of the horizon….

I added a bit of brightness to the sky for contrast

The city demanded a bit more definition. Out came the pens. So did the shrubbery at the front. I added more detail there too. Plus a few highlights.

And here is the final painting! Not Cloudy and Green anymore. I need to decide what to call it instead. Any suggestions? (Polite ones please!)
