I’ve been away…

I’ve done very little towards art or the website over the last week, as I’ve been lucky enough to have a short break with my family on the beautiful Island of Arran. Plenty of inspiration there, even if there was rain at some point every day!

On one of the days, we took a trip to Lochranza at the north of the island. Years ago (I think I was about 17) I painted the biggest painting I have ever done (as yet) in watercolour, on a large piece of indeterminate paper - I presume some kind of art quality paper, as it has stood the test of time, although is a little bit faded! - at my parents’ dining table. It was a painting of Lochranza Castle, and it still hangs on my wall (mainly because my husband likes it) Maybe I should paint another, more up to date version? Photograph of the castle from last week as a comparison! The weather was less exciting, and the castle at a different angle….. or perhaps my imagination got the better of me all those years ago.

If I do paint another version, I might leave out the scaffolding I accidentally added into the original!
