From Imagination

This is a developing Collection, for those paintings which don’t really fit anywhere else on my website!

Generally, these are larger, framed paintings, which have some kind of basis in reality, but where I have let my imagination rule, so the results are not always what I expected! Some of these will be on sale in due course as I am always adding to my collections, and some of the designs feature on other items, cards and art prints. There is some overlap with my “Illustrative Designs” collection, as some of my paintings fit into several categories!

See below for an example.

The story of “Upward”

While having a look around my Painting Room, a friend casually mentioned that she was looking for a painting to hang in her hallway. She liked pictures where the viewer was looking up at the sky, especially if the sky was full of bright colours: - Could I paint something like that?

So I gave it a go!

The result was “Upward” and the original is now adorning my friends’ wall.

I loved playing with colour in this painting. It is done on Art board in mixed media: Acrylic and pastel for the background, and ink and acrylic for the grasses, leaves and flowers at the front, and framed by myself in a frame provided by the customer.

It makes a nice greetings card, and smaller art prints of the design will be available from this website soon.

Upward is also one of the designs used for Contrado homeware items (see below)

A small number of my designs from this collection are available on certain homeware and accessories from the Contrado website. Contrado is based in London, and supplies made to order. I liked their sustainability credentials, and have therefore added a few designs to their items which can be purchased from their shop (A couple of examples here)
